Attorney Representation

You can retain an attorney to represent you in your divorce.  The attorney will look after your best interests and file all necessary paperwork.  The attorney will represent you in court if agreements are not reached outside of court.  Referrals may be made to other professionals such as mediators, therapists, divorce coaches, financial consultants, etc.

If you retain an attorney that is trained in Collaborative Divorce he or she will also look after your best interest but will also work with a team of professionals that are all trained in Collaborative Divorce.  Both you and your spouse must be represented by an attorney trained in Collaborative Divorce.  The "team" (you are included in the team) works together in to reach the best agreements.

Advantages of Collaborative Divorce:
**** You keep control of the process without going to court
**** Children's needs are given priority
**** The "team" commits to reaching agreement
**** An atmosphere of respect preserves self-esteem
**** Open communication provides tools for effective problem-solving in the future
**** There is full disclosure of facts and information
**** Face-to-face meetings allow for mutually created resolutions
**** Process helps couple plan for their futures

Divorce_Coaches are an integral part of the team and are called on when needed.  Each person may have a Divorce Coach.  In some circumstances one Divorce Coach may work with both spouses.
